MTN Gives Free Airtime To South Africa Prepaid Users

MTN South Africa has announced that "from Sunday 5 July, MTN Pay as you go and Top Up customers who have recharged with airtime will get 15% Free airtime on their airtime purchases of R15.00 or more."

The free airtime can be used to make MTN to MTN calls, send SMSs to all local networks or to access the internet. The promotion runs until 8 August 2009 and the free airtime is valid for 30 days.

"The good news is that even those who recharge for less than R15.00 at a time, will also qualify for the 15% Free airtime once they have cumulatively recharged for R15.00 or more during the promotional period," MTN added.

This is the latest promotion in a string of value adds from the mobile operators.  Cell C launched its Woza Wheneva promotion in February, giving free Cell C–to–Cell C minutes to prepaid subscribers who recharge their account.  Vodacom followed suit soon afterwards with its 'Free airtime' promotion for top up and prepaid customers where subscribers get 20% airtime added to any airtime recharge.
