Ethiopia's monopoly mobile network operator, the Ethiopian Telecommunication Corporation (ETC), has launched a commercial GPRS service, nazret.com reports. Initially it is understood that the service is limited to post-paid subscribers, and customers will be charged on a pay-as-you-use basis for sending or receiving data over the network.
In addition, there will be a ETB45 (USD4.02) registration charge to access the service. ETC is expected to extend the service to pre-paid subscribers in the future.
