Nigeria's Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) has  extended the deadline for the submission of technical and financial bids for  ailing incumbent telco Nigerian Telecommunications (NITEL) and its mobile arm  M-Tel, reports local newspaper ThisDay. The deadline for interested  parties to submit bids was originally 2 October, but has been pushed back to 26  October.
 The winning bidder is expected to be announced on  9 November. It is understood that the deadline has been extended due to the  complexity of the process, and to ensure that the BPE does a thorough job to  limit mistakes.
 13 parties have expressed an interest in NITEL:  Etisalat Nigeria, Omen International Limited, Summit Group, MTI Consortium,  Finetek.Com/Ericsson, MTNL of India, Globacom, MTN Nigeria Communications, Anas  Network Services Limited, Telefonica of Spain, MetroPCS Communications, Brymedia  and Galaxy Backbone.
